The year was 1995, I was two years old. Running around my childhood home, I discovered what would become my favorite medium, a black sharpie. I didn’t have a first word as a kid, I had a first full sentence. “Look mom, I drew on the wall”. It was at that moment I became a designer. I took my job seriously, coloring inside the lines to the best of my ability with coordinating colors, placing the Lincoln Logs at the perfect angle for optimal cabin height and stabilization, and making sure all my stuffed animals were lined up in the most efficient and aesthetically pleasing way. To design is to play, create and explore. I’ve been designing my whole life.

 

While in school, I embarrassingly took the utmost pride in my binders and how they were organized and presented. It was my ultimate goal to have a binder so good, so beautiful, that the teacher would throw theirs out the window and use mine instead. I wanted to take everything in front of me and make it look nicer, make it work better, and to make the experience more enjoyable for its user. As I grew older, my interests and hobbies expanded, still continuing to fall under the umbrella of design. I began dedicating my time to skills like street art, culinary arts, photography, videography, and now websites and UX Design. 

 

It seemed like no matter how many new interests I obtained, they would all seamlessly link and build upon each other, exactly like my Lincoln Logs as a child, giving me the opportunity to create something bigger and better. Over the last three years, I have fallen in love with building websites. I get to take all the elements of design that I enjoy and build something amazing with the goal of providing someone with an enjoyable experience along the way. I am motivated by problem solving and creativity, two things that web design offers every step of the way.
