BATHTUB GIN

WEBSITE REDESIGN (2025)

🧠 CHALLENGE: Bathtub Gin is a well-known Seattle speakeasy celebrated for its prohibition-era atmosphere and craft cocktail program. While the in-person experience was immersive and memorable, the website failed to reflect that identity. The existing site felt visually disconnected from the brand and featured a menu that was difficult to navigate and frustrating for both staff and customers. The challenge was to realign the digital experience with the bar’s moody, vintage aesthetic while improving usability and creating a system that allowed staff to update the menu efficiently without ongoing developer support.

✍️ SOLUTION: I directed the redesign by preserving Bathtub Gin’s existing logo to maintain brand recognition, while rebuilding the surrounding visual system specifically for digital use. The updated color palette and typography were designed to translate the speakeasy’s moody, prohibition-era atmosphere into a functional web experience. To resolve menu usability challenges, I implemented a dynamic content system that allowed staff to update offerings and pricing without developer involvement. This approach improved both the customer experience and internal workflow, resulting in a site that balanced atmosphere, usability, and long-term maintainability.

❤️ CLIENT FEEDBACK: “This is so much cleaner and matches exactly how I hoped it would. I like how the website now reflects how it feels to be inside the building.” – JG

Note: The live site may vary from the designs shown due to post-launch updates and ongoing maintenance.
